במשך למעלה מ־19 שנים מקיימת המועצה האזורית רמת הנגב, יחד עם המו״פ החקלאי של רמת הנגב, קשרי שותפות הדוקים וארוכי־טווח עם עמותת נגב (The Negev Foundation) שבקליבלנד, אוהיו, ארצות הברית.

מייסד העמותה ומנהלה הוא מר סם הוניג, ידיד קרוב של המועצה ושל הנגב כולו, אשר מלווה את פעילות האזור לאורך שנים במסירות, מחויבות עמוקה וחיבור אישי אמיתי לנגב.

במהלך שנות השותפות תרמה העמותה תרומה משמעותית לפיתוח רמת הנגב, בדגש על קידום המחקר והחדשנות החקלאית. אחד משיאי פעילותה הוא הסיוע המרכזי בגיוס משאבים ובהקמת מרכז החוקרים של רמת הנגב, אשר נחנך בינואר 2008 בתחנת הניסויים של המו״פ החקלאי, ומהווה אבן דרך משמעותית בהתפתחות המחקר המדעי באזור.

חברי הנהלת העמותה בארצות הברית מעורבים באופן פעיל בנעשה במועצה ובמו״פ החקלאי, ומהווים שותפים אמתיים לדרך. אנו מבקשים להביע את הערכתנו ותודתנו לחברי ההנהלה, ובהם: דיק בוגומולני, ג'ו שפרן, לי קורמן, ז'אק מנדייל, ורבים נוספים.

מעבר לכך, העמותה יוזמת ומלווה פרויקטים נוספים בתחומי החקלאות, יזמות עסקית, שיתופי פעולה מדעיים, חיזוק קשרי המסחר עם ישראל, הבאת משלחות מאוהיו, וכן תמיכה בפרויקטים קהילתיים וחברתיים ברחבי המועצה.

 

For over 19 years, the Ramat HaNegev Regional Council, together with the Ramat HaNegev Agricultural R&D Center, has maintained a deep and long-standing partnership with The Negev Foundation, based in Cleveland, Ohio, USA.

The Foundation was founded and is led by Mr. Sam Honig, a close friend of the Council and a devoted supporter of the Negev, who has accompanied the region’s work for many years with commitment, care, and a genuine personal connection.

Throughout the years, the Foundation has made a significant contribution to the development of Ramat HaNegev, with a strong focus on advancing agricultural research and innovation. One of the highlights of this partnership was the Foundation’s central role in supporting the establishment of the Ramat HaNegev Research Center, inaugurated in January 2008 at the Agricultural R&D experimental station. This center represents a major milestone in the region’s scientific and research development.

Members of the Foundation’s Board in the United States are actively involved in the work of the Regional Council and the Agricultural R&D Center, serving as true partners in a shared journey. We extend our sincere appreciation to Board members, including Dick Bogomolny, Joe Sheffern, Lee Korman, Jacques Mendel, and many others.

In addition, the Foundation initiates and supports further projects in agriculture, business entrepreneurship, scientific collaboration, strengthening ties with Israel, bringing delegations from Ohio, and supporting community and social initiatives across the region.
