In commemoration of 40 years since the passing of David Ben-Gurion And in celebration of the partnership between the State of Israel and the Jewish Communities of North America.

This year’s North American Jewish communities’ general assembly (GA) will take place in Jerusalem on the 10th-12th of November, 2013, in proximity with the annual “Ben-Gurion Walk”, the largest and most significant event held to honor the memory of Israel’s first prime minister, which takes place every year on the weekend closest to the day of his passing.

This year, the State of Israel marks 40 years since the passing of its first prime minister, and due to the proximity of the two events we wish to turn the Ben-Gurion Walk in the Negev into a combined event that also salutes the North American Jewish communities and their respective partnerships in Israel.

The Ben-Gurion Walk will take place on Saturday, November 16th. For those who observe the Sabbath, a second Walk will be held on Sunday, November 17th, together with soldiers and students.

The route sets off from Ben-Gurion’s historic home on Kibbutz Sde Boker, his final residence, passing through magical desert scenery and historical sites and concluding at the joint burial site of David and Paula Ben-Gurion at Midreshet Ben-Gurion.

The Ramat Hanegev Regional Council invites all “Beyachad” partnerships to take advantage of a unique opportunity to strengthen ties by bringing joint delegations from the Jewish communities attending the GA in Israel and representatives of the “Beyachad Partnerships” from all around Israel to a weekend in the Negev, culminating in a joint walk in the footsteps of David Ben-Gurion.
