Palm Springs Jewish Community Mission to Ramat Hanegev
On the first week of May 2013 , 16 visitors came to Ramat Hanegev, donors from the Jewish community of Palm Springs Desert Region in California.
The delegation laid a wreath on Ben-Gurion’s tomb, visited the Zin Elementary School and heard a presentation about the Zin Treatment Center which they help to finance through the Partnership. They also planted an olive tree, symbolic of the deepening Partnership roots, at the Agricultural R & D Center which they financed in 2006.
The group visited Shanti House and enjoyed dinner with our council department heads. The following day they dedicated the Merchav-Am community center in a moving event attended by the community and residents.
They ended the visit in Pitchat Nitzana, where they saw the security rooms and enjoyed the hospitality of families in Kmehin.
At the end of the visit, the Federation CEO noted that without Ramat Hanegev such a successful visit could not have taken place!! Mission members appreciated the hospitality they received throughout their visit and thanked everyone for the wonderful things they are doing in the Negev.
We hope this visit is a sign of good things to come and that we’ll start seeing more and more visitors from the Palm Springs community, our new partner that has joined the existing partnerships maintained by Ramat Hanegev.
