From the Californian desert to the Israeli desert: A strong and vibrant partnership
Recent visit by former president Allan Nyman and Bruce Landgarten, present CEO and chairman, of the Jewish Federation of Palm Springs & Desert Area in California
At the end of May 2014 we were visited by two leaders of the Palm Springs & Desert Area Jewish Federation in California, Allan Nyman and Bruce Landgarten. This is Ramat HaNegev’s newest partnership, operating in its current format for the past three years.
Our distinguished visitors took part in professional tours of Ramat HaNegev, Judea & Samaria and Jerusalem. In Ramat HaNegev they met with local residents, program organizers and department heads in the Jewish Agency, as well as Federation representatives of partnerships from other communities in Israel.
During the Ramat HaNegev part of their visit, Allan and Bruce laid the cornerstone for a pre-school learning center in Kadesh Barnea, dedicated a therapeutic workroom for the empowerment program at the Zin Elementary School, and took part in the dedication ceremony of the Merchav Am community center library – all of which were made possible through the generosity of the Jewish Federation of Palm Springs & Desert Area.
At the end of the visit, Bruce Landgarten, CEO and Chairman of the Federation, said that the partnership between Ramat HaNegev and the Jewish community he represents is growing stronger all the time and that he knows for a fact that the sense of reward and gratification on the part of the Palm Springs community is tremendous.
