Council Assembly Members Visit Bedouins Neighbors
At the initiative of Mayor Shmuel Rifman, council assembly members went on a visit (Sunday, Oct. 13th, 2013) to get better acquainted with their local Bedouin neighbors.
The assembly members toured Bir Hadj and Kefar Roim in the Aricha Valley and got acquainted with other points of settlements in the Mt. Negev area.
In this framework, they were exposed to the various contexts related to the Bedouin way of life – statutory, social, cultural, educational and others, and held lively conversations with their hosts. Hemi Cohen, the mayor’s consultant on Bedouin affairs, helped guide the tour.
The Council’s assembly members said, “As council assembly members we should get better acquainted with the region. It’s important for us to get to know the Bedouins and we are grateful for the opportunity to deepen our knowledge about them first-hand.”
